OUR HISTORY
Built on craft. Carried forward by family.
LAVAL Tool & Mould Ltd. was founded in Windsor, Ontario, in 1975 by Larry Azzopardi, a toolmaker by trade with a passion for solving difficult manufacturing problems.
After learning the tooling trade through apprenticeship, Larry ventured out on his own and built the company around craftsmanship, determination and a deep understanding of the moulding process. His early focus on compression moulding helped LAVAL become an innovator in the design and manufacture of large, complex compression moulds.
What began as a specialized tool and mould shop steadily grew in capability, reputation and reach.
In 2009, leadership transitioned to Larry’s youngest son, Jonathon Azzopardi. Under second-generation family leadership, the company expanded beyond traditional mouldmaking into advanced engineering, large-format machining, in-house sampling and tryout, automation, mould repair and refurbishment, secondary tooling and composite parts production.
Today, operating as LAVAL International, we remain family-owned and operated in Windsor-Essex.
Our equipment has changed. Our facilities have expanded. Our capabilities now reach from initial product development to finished-part production. But the principles that built the company remain firmly in place:

LAVAL designs, engineers, manufactures, tests and supports compression and injection moulds, production tooling and composite parts for demanding industries.
Our customers operate in automotive and electric vehicles, heavy truck, recreational vehicles, construction materials, mass transit, military and government applications, industrial manufacturing and specialty-product markets.
